Pagi tadi bayi kecil berumur 3 tahun itu dadanya membengkak. Jamur sialan memenuhi paru-parunya. Bapak dan Ibunya menangis. Itu sudah jam 6 lebih sedikit, saat saya seperti kesal pada diskusi-diskusi yang lewat dan mungkin kekasih saya masih lelap.
Saya memang bukan siapa-siapa, tapi saya tahu saya terluka melihat -lagi- virus HIV/AIDS akan merebut seorang lagi dari saya. Seseorang yang karena senyum dan cara bercelotehnya telah merebut hati saya.
Sekarang, seperti yang sudah-sudah, saya di antara kedua orangtuanya yang masih belia -usianya tak lebih tua dari saya- cemas menunggu kabar-kabar yang bisa saja sangat tidak menggembirakan.
Pertengahan tahun lalu, saya menuliskan ini dan mempresentasikannya dalam sebuah kongres HIV/AIDS di Jakarta. Mungkin ringkasnya seperti ini. Versi yang sudah saya edit hilang entah kemana.
With many of the existence of institutions which cope with HIV/AIDS, has brought a certain effect towards the local society and ODHA (Orang dengan HIV/AIDS/ People who are living AIDS), particularly. Positive effects of those existences perhaps had already been revealed by those institutions themselves. Nevertheless, as an outsider, I will propose some of the less pleasant to be heard.
Some rumors that have been spread on the contending for coverage in KD (Kelompok Dampingan/ Assisting Groups) in Yogyakarta. Each of the institution has been assuming on owning their KD, furthermore, it is considered as a ‘pamali’ (Sudanese word for ‘taboo’) for other institution to do treatments or assistance within the same coverage and program in the same KD.
Even though there is KPA (Koalisi Penanggulangan Aids), however, discrepancies among those related institutions can be known by common society. Besides, frankly, it is not merely the only problem, from several of those institutions coping with HIV/AIDS, it simply can be assured that they tend to focus on the prevention to the liable society. They forget to provide discourse to the ODHA to help to stop the spreading of HIV/AIDS, which are reflected in their daily activities.
There must be an institution that gives the assistance towards ODHA/OHIDA. Through this institution, ODHA/OHIDA will have some discourses and awareness, which are enough neither to intentionally nor unintentionally spread those viruses to other people. I faced a case in Yogyakarta, where there is a man who is swapping and changing sexual partners continually with the intention to spread the virus to other people/ to each of adolescent he has been seeing with. There is also a friend of mine who is HIV positive and actively working without informing his/her health condition to his/her clients. To me, this is undoubtedly unethical and harmful behavior!
With the institution which focus on this condition, I think the tackling of HIV/AIDS will be coordinated and achieved. There is also importance in performing a study of case on the difference, which quite significant, between ODHA in assistance (from institution) and those who are without assistance. If there is no major difference, though, I think it does not then mean that the judgment of the barren ness of the HIV/AIDS institutions can be assumed true. Because there are many things that already done by peers from the institutions with or without the society’s (including my) awareness.
